The Age of Social Media

Just A Small Town Girl...

Over the last few years social media has become such a paramount part of people’s lives, particularly for twenty-something year olds.

I was chatting to this guy the other day, he must’ve been about 24. ‘Have you got Snapchat?’ he asked me. Nope. ‘Instagram?’ Nope. ‘Twitter?’ Nope. ‘Facebook?!’ Yes! But I hardly ever use it… awkward silence. His facial expression said it all: a mixture of shock, disappointment and disgust. But still he felt the need to open his mouth and force out one word, ‘wow.’ It’s safe to say that was the end of that conversation! All that was left for me to do was to pull an ‘alrighty then’ face, apologise for disappointing him and then walk away.
